ATTENTION

If you Listened to the Video Clip on the "Essays Main Page", ragarding Attention, and you are wondering where it came from, let me put your mind at ease. It comes from the Opening Scene of the Movie "The Immitation Game" that revolves around Alan Turing and the "Computer" he built to decipher Germany's Enigma Machine Codes.

The reason for my fascination with Alan Turing, is because he Commited Suicide (in 1954) after being prosecuted for homosexual acts in 1952 and was forced to accept "Chemical Castration  as Punishment. This just peaked my interest, but what SHOCKED me, was that ONLY in 2009, British prime minister Gordon Brown made an official public apology for "the appalling way [Turing] was treated". Queen Elizabeth II granted a pardon in 2013, almost 60 years AFTER his death.

This lead me to another Grimm discovery. After World War 2, homosexual men were Actively being Prosecuted until as late as 1968, when it was Decriminalized. Homosexual men had to live in Concentrations Camps until all of them were "dismantled". Forced to live under appauling conditions for years after the War ended.

But the Point of this Short Article is to give you some advice when you talk to someone else and DEMAND their Attention. If you Listened to the Video, Awesome! If you ever want to use the short Dialougue to get someone else's Attention, here is the Excerpt from the Scene:

Are you paying attention?

Good.
If you are not listening carefully, you will miss things. Important things.
I will not pause, I will not repeat myself, and you will not interrupt me.
You think that because you're sitting where you are, and I am sitting where I am, that you are in control of what is about to happen.
You're mistaken.
I am in control, because I know things that you do not know.
What I will need from you now is a commitment.
You will listen closely, and you will not judge me until I am finished.
If you cannot commit to this, then please leave the room.
But if you choose to stay, remember you chose to be here.
What happens from this moment forward is not my responsibility. It's yours.

Pay attention.

In case you missed it, here is another version of the Video Clip again.
